Spend 30 Days Giving Up Something

For this task I have chosen to give up Fast Food delivery. I qualify it in this way because I have still used 7-eleven to pick up sandwiches and chips and coffee on occasion for work, but I am also going to be working on that as well once this thirty days is complete. What I have learned about changing habits is to go slowly. Last time I attempted to do this 100 days of no junk food/fast food, once it was over I went right back to the habit. So, if I want to keep the habit going, I need to make it a life-style rather than a once off. To complete this task I did a few things: I reviewed recipes I had enjoyed when I received a Home Chef subscription and I was able to purchase them from the instacart delivery service. This ended up being the cheapest option out of others I also reviewed. I also inadvertently purchased two one week subscriptions to Every plate and another meal prep option. Between 4 and 5 meal options, each serving 2 people. I meant to cancel them once I looked at the men

5K Walk for NAMI

Each year, the National Alliance of Mental Illness does a 5k walk. Usually I attempt to do this every year. This is a free walk, but I also enjoy raising money for this organization. Its one of the largest providers of mental health services in San Diego. I began raising money in February. I don't enjoy publicizing the need for donations, so I did not do too much publicizing. Still the kind donations of many members ended up making $150 dollars.  Now, to talk about what things happened before hand. My best friend left working here in our company without a goodbye and its difficult to get a hold of them and the relationship is different now since we don't work together. There is some grief associated with losing that relationship.   A month or so beforehand, I discovered that my facility is not going to be open for much longer and I'll be looking for a new job. I work for a different organization than NAMI and the frustration I had with losing my dream job brought me very c

Try a New Recipe

Try a New Recipe In this lesson, a couple of things went wrong. My plan was to consider different meal prep options without being charged. I signed up for three or four and cancelled right after I got to look at the menu. After I looked at the menus and a book of recipies I had at home, I decided I would just order the ingredients from instacart and have them delivered. Well, as it turns out I got charged for two different meal prep options, so I suppose I'll give my review of each even though that wasn't asked for. Everyplate put EVERYTHING in one box. I had to do some sort of grocery scavenger hunt. The recopies were really good though. There are a few I have done twice. I'll take you through my favorite one. Be warned though, this one is high in calories, and I've made some changes to it to make it even easier and tastier. You will need  1  Bread roll. Ciabatta is recommended in this recipe but French bread rolls are softer and I like them better for this one. Key i

Clean That Mess

Knighthood Assignment: Clean That Mess I am planning on going on a vacation to Arizona and before I do that, I want to have my house clean so that when I return, I return to a clean house. Plus, it helps to assuage some of that fear that I am going to get a notice indicating that my landlord will arrive in 3 days in order to inspect the unit. I'll be real. In addition to having some issues with attention and distraction, I also experience bouts of depression that make it difficult to keep my house in order. It's not the worst its been, but its also not in the best shape. I have tried schedules, Pomodoro's, having people come over, pretty much anything to keep my house clean. It doesn't seem to work for me. So, I am hoping that this cleaning because 1. I am going on atrip and 2. It is a Knighthood assignment, will at least give me some motivation to get and keep my house clean. I plan to clean the whole house day by day I will keep a record of my activities. Bathroom 3

Meditative Practice Week 2

March 12, 2023 Master Mike was ill and we were unable to do class #3 as scheduled. So we had an impromptu Meditation and Kyber Beacon. For those of you unaware of what a Kyber beacon is, it is a form of energy work done chiefly by members within the community wide group known as Jedi CAN. It is a cooperate, guided, meditative practice meant to focus energy for one disaster or one person or one situation. This beacon session was for Mike. After that, Jedi did what Jedi do, and that is. talk ALOT. We ended up, all told, spending about 8 hrs on video, which reminded me quite a lot of those deep conversations we have at gatherings.  Regarding not being able to have class, I found that I was quite dependent on the schedule as part of my routine. Many thanks to Karina who suggested having a beacon put out for Michael since it took the place (in my routine) for the hour. This break in the classes also allows me to get rooted in the practice explained in the first class: breathe, focus, stare

Grow a Plant from a Seed

Grow a Plant from a Seed (Knighting Assignment 30) Grow a plant from seed. You can start a whole garden, but one plant will be fine. Take a couple of pictures of the plant growing. Write about your experience. Practice feeling the Living Force and focus on how the pant feels throughout the process. In October of 2022 I bought a hydroponic garden. It has space for 8 pods. The photo below is the beginning of the process. I planted seeds on January 7, 2023 I have never been able to keep plants alive, so we shall see how it goes. The process includes creating a greenhouse environment, which is why there are small plastic bubbles In the following movie you can see a snapshot of the progress of this project: Plant Project  Some of the plants have died. The hardest loss was my tomato plant. It began growing very well and was the star of the show for a while. What I noticed was that it was preventing my other plants from growing. I attempted to transplant it, but it had gotten s
