Letter to Myself

 Hello Roz,

If you are reading this, you have encountered a valley:

  • It's boring
  • You've already been here before
  • It's long
  • You already have all of the ranks (at your home site)
  • You don't have time
Remember when this happened before? Over and over again? With GM Mark, with Alexandre. Well, now it's happening again.  Valleys are natural. There will always be an excuse. It's why we have plans. Your plan is:
1. Practice at 6:00 AM daily.
2. Complete one entry of homework per week on Saturday at 7:00 AM

Use what you know from your other training.
  •  You know you need support. It's not a shameful thing to ask. You want to learn about the Force to be a better teacher and a better Jedi, this is where that training is. You know you need a routine. It is not always going to feel like you need to train, but just like a habit, just like a muscle, do it anyway. Like the gym, you set it up for the bus to just take you. Do that here too. Make a commitment to check in at 6:00 when you start and set an alarm"This weapon (knowledge) is your life."
  • You can also reframe. Look at what you already have done, even when you didn't feel like doing it. I know it can feel bad when you fall off, but it's not the end. If you have fallen off before, for example with learning Spanish, it just means getting back up, learning about why that happened, and trying again. But discipline is not an all-or-nothing game, and training is not a win-lose scenario. So you missed a class, or you didn't do the homework...or, or, or. You're not going to be that behind if you just pick up where you left off without trying to be perfect.
  • Remember what Sahad said. If you set a time and miss it (like when you were studying for the CRC) you can still open the book. In this case, you can still do just a little...meditation, writing, attending a class, reading a log, whatever. It's the muscle you are building.
  • Last but not least, don't let yourself get distracted. Don't put too much on your plate because you think you can handle it. Do this sincerely.
  • Remember, you can make time for the things that you prioritize. Prioritize this. You may not know everything, but you for sure know how to do things you don't want to do (for whatever reason) to get where you want to go.

Remember, I believe in you,

May the Force be with you
