Spend 30 Days Giving Up Something

For this task I have chosen to give up Fast Food delivery. I qualify it in this way because I have still used 7-eleven to pick up sandwiches and chips and coffee on occasion for work, but I am also going to be working on that as well once this thirty days is complete. What I have learned about changing habits is to go slowly. Last time I attempted to do this 100 days of no junk food/fast food, once it was over I went right back to the habit. So, if I want to keep the habit going, I need to make it a life-style rather than a once off. To complete this task I did a few things: I reviewed recipes I had enjoyed when I received a Home Chef subscription and I was able to purchase them from the instacart delivery service. This ended up being the cheapest option out of others I also reviewed. I also inadvertently purchased two one week subscriptions to Every plate and another meal prep option. Between 4 and 5 meal options, each serving 2 people. I meant to cancel them once I looked at the...

5K Walk for NAMI

Each year, the National Alliance of Mental Illness does a 5k walk. Usually I attempt to do this every year. This is a free walk, but I also enjoy raising money for this organization. Its one of the largest providers of mental health services in San Diego. I began raising money in February. I don't enjoy publicizing the need for donations, so I did not do too much publicizing. My best friend left working here in our company without a goodbye and its difficult to get a hold of them and the relationship is different now since we don't work together. There is some grief associated with losing that relationship.   A month or so beforehand, I discovered that my facility is not going to be open for much longer and I'll be looking for a new job. I work for a different organization than NAMI and the frustration I had with losing my dream job brought me...

Try a New Recipe

Try a New Recipe In this lesson, a couple of things went wrong. My plan was to consider different meal prep options without being charged. I signed up for three or four and cancelled right after I got to look at the menu. After I looked at the menus and a book of recipies I had at home, I decided I would just order the ingredients from instacart and have them delivered. Well, as it turns out I got charged for two different meal prep options, so I suppose I'll give my review of each even though that wasn't asked for. Everyplate put EVERYTHING in one box. I had to do some sort of grocery scavenger hunt. The recopies were really good though. There are a few I have done twice. I'll take you through my favorite one. Be warned though, this one is high in calories, and I've made some changes to it to make it even easier and tastier. You will need  1  Bread roll. Ciabatta is recommended in this recipe but French bread rolls are softer and I like them better for th...
